Sakhi for south asian survivors exists to represent the south asian and indo-caribbean diaspora in a survivor-led movement for gender justice and to honor the collective and inherent power of all survivors of violence. founded in 1989, sakhi was the first organization to break the silence surrounding gender-based violence within new york city's large south asian immigrant population.over the years, sakhi has worked to unify the movement for gender justice. in building justice and equity for survivors, sakhi actively invests in providing direct services, educating our community and building awareness that advocates for systems-change work.
